C- I got married when I was 18, and I tried so many career paths before getting something that stuck. I had to play catch up and learn guitar and i figured it out later. i joke it was my 32 life crisis, but i wanted to really pursue it so i went to Nashville to record my EP and it evolved from there over the past 4 years.

S- Were you self taught on guitar?

C- Little bit of both - i get obsessive so i would stay up all night and work. Youtube and anyone i knew i’d absorb from. i tried getting actual lessons, but it didn’t work with babies at home.

S- That’s such a great thing, absorbing and continuing to learn!

C- absolutely, you have to- there’s so much to learn

S- what draws your inspiration out?

C- I’m literal in a lot of ways and draw from real life. Sometimes it’s just a spark of an idea from real life.

i can’t complete them at home, i need a few days away to really get it finished and feel inspired from start to finish.

i never thought it being inspirational but i just go for it if it’s something on my heart.

S- It gives some women permission to do that themselves especially a little later in life too.

C- i was told i had too much baggage with a husband and kids- and i was too old and that was huge motivator. It’s a gift

S-it’s a way you can connect with a different audience that way

So let’s move into your why and your passion.

C- my passionate to create is just in me. I think it’s just in creative people. If you don’t use it, you’re not reaching your full potential and you feel like you’ll explode. If i’m not doing music, there’s other outlets you have to let that creativity out.

S- The more you harness that creativity the more creative you are.

How did you start marketing/performing/and changing it into a business.

C- you don’t realize when you become a musician, you should’ve also gotten a marketing degree too. i googled a lot, and i do all day all the time. I learned how to build a website, and marketing, and learning to play guitar and write and sing. in the world of social media, it’s essential.

S- a lot of people get stuck in their one passion- but you show you’re multi-passionate. so let’s dive into that a bit

C- it’s just i have an attention span of a 5 year old, it’s really just oooh let’s try that! and see where it goes.

i liked making jewelry, and that actually helped pay for my first EP. the music did not pay for the music- the jewelry paid for that EP. Just to try it and a little bit here and there until you find what you love and dive into it.

S- You also wrote a book- tell us about that!

C- Yes Felicity, i cried even as i wrote it. I always had this big personality where people didn’t know how to handle me, i was too much. then i had a daughter who came out 3x as extra as i am, so i learned to tone it down as i grew to fit in and i got so tired of it. so my daughter inspired it and it’s written as a children’s book but a lot of grown women have loved it too- that it’s big personalities and society wants to tell you take it down a couple notches, and to instead be yourself. Find the audience that does.

S- Any advice for women who feel stuck or get out of their shell- any advice on how to start

C- Remind yourself- as long as. you’re breathing- it’s not too late and i am a list person. short, medium and long term goals, and i say it confidently but i fail at it all the time. but at the same time, you say you’re gonna do it. i felt trapped so many times, but i’m only trapped by what i’m telling myself i’m trapped by.

S- advice to get the thing started on their heart

C- A little it a day, just start a little bit a day, you may not be able to jump in, but mapping it out and seeing a little progress.

S- I know you’re busy with performing and books and being a mama- talk a little how you keep up with those goals.

C- I have lots of help. My parents are close by, and husband’s parents and my husband is super supportive and my kids give me a lot of grace. And other times i play catch up when i’m busy and then focus on them.

S- where can we find you! (i linked above!)
