SS: Tell us all about you!

Savvy: Grew up in Panama City, and I didn’t necessarily know what I was going to do, I majored in English which makes sense writing the blog and being a creative person and started focusing in Film. The blog was a learning experience and was already in a transition season at the time, and had a back up plan in film.

A lot of why I want to Empower women is to give them the encouragement that those thoughts and conversations are normal- and they don’t always know how to have those conversations. To have a creative space to allow that. I hope in some way they can land on the blog or podcast and empowers you to think twice, but even when you grow a community, it’s like any other piece of art- without conversation or hearing back- you don’t really know.

SS: Building that community- what’s been huge for your business for growth

Savvy: When i started talking about mental health and affirmations and the thought process for everything. When I built the blog- i thought about what i wanted it to look like. It’s understandable you want to be profitable, but for me it’s about the creative and writing side. I took a lot of inspiration from people who are maybe more successful. People want to be motivated and go to someone and be poured into. And the internet is a way to get that, especially now when we don’t see someone every day.

SS: Talk about adapting to change a bit

Savvy: One of the things I saw going on, how brands wanted to pull things- so for me it was how do i want to monetize things, what do i want to do. I wasn’t necessarily creating and having the partnerships i wanted at first. From a business aspect, what is going to help me have peace? And to not put all my money in one bucket.

Help create an environment for you TO succeed.

Another thing is to listen and be aware when you’re most productive and it looks different for every person.

SS: What’s important for creatives to implement into daily life?

Savvy: I started to journal a bit more- but having a space where you can be creative and not have any judgements, it’s massive.

SS: I love to journal- and sometimes it’s that space of anger or sadness, healing or books and inspiration.

Thank you for listening!
