Panama city beach conservation park self portraits

I had this vision for my 34th birthday photos for a while

i keep far too many old clothes, every prom dress included. But the one from my junior year?- I knew I wanted to use again. So I undid the beautiful sewing job, and made something new. I pieced it with my birthday dress from last year and it was so much fun. 🤍

This past week, I kept coming across the word renew. It seems fitting as I open a new book of renewing my mind and spirit, as I make something new out of a loved dress from 16 years ago (took apart a prom dress to use the skirt), as I feel something in my heart stirring for continued healing and courage to renew that piece of me that felt so distant for so long, and as I take baby steps to a life I’ve prayed and worked for. Almost my 34th birthday and the word I feel is closest at the moment.. renew.

here’s some of my faves from the self portrait session. Which by the way, my sessions are messy, I have two tripods with two cameras, a third tripod for my phone to record and I go through dozens of fuzzy, out of focus, bad lighting and posing to get a few I love. But I had a blast.
